Job summary:

To help fulfill that mission, the Red Hat User Experience Design (UXD) team is looking for an Associate UXD Content Designer to join us. In this role, you will plan, write, and create content across Red Hat products, PatternFly, and community channels. We're looking for someone with excellent writing, communication, and collaboration skills who can write and edit a variety of content to improve the user experience of products, design systems, documentation, and websites.
The UXD team helps make Red Hat products easy and enjoyable for all people to use. Our global team of researchers, designers, content designers, and developers work together to bridge the technical world to the users with intuitive and approachable product experiences. While each of us has unique skills and talents, we all agree that the best ideas come from diverse minds and fresh perspectives. Whether we're collaboratively supporting Red Hat's product portfolio, exchanging ideas in upstream communities, or crunching code for PatternFly (Red Hat's open source design system), our focus on teamwork, empathy, and transparency play a key role in building products our users love. This role can be remote anywhere in the United States where Red Hat is licensed to do business.
Primary job responsibilities:
Collaborate with designers, product managers, researchers, technical writers, and other product group stakeholders to plan, write, and iterate microcopy at all relevant points in the user flow
Participate in user research to develop a deep understanding of the customer and our personas, and test microcopy with users; apply user insights to microcopy decisions
Maintain microcopy health through audits, string database maintenance, and regular updating
Evaluate microcopy effectiveness through KPIs like user engagement and feedback
Assist with building learning experience strategies so that users can easily find and use learning content to reach their product goals
Maintain and contribute to PatternFly's UX writing style guide and component design guidelines Update and revise the style guide based on user research findings and team feedback
Maintain and contribute to PatternFly's documentation and website content
Contribute to building an identity and brand awareness for design at Red Hat across community channels like blogs, websites, presentations, The Source, and social media
Manage, edit, and regularly contribute to the UXD team's social media, blogs, intranet, and other community channels
Support the UXD Research team in building relationships with participants, creating research materials (e.g., surveys), and publicizing their work across Red Hat
Required skills:
Skilled at collaborating with people of various talents, personalities, and professional backgrounds
Ability to combine creative and analytical thinking to create engaging experiences that support user goals and business strategies
Excellent writing skills, comfortable with creating content across a variety of formats and channels
Quick learner and ability to quickly start using new technologies
Writing portfolio
College degree in English, communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field
The following will be considered a plus:
Familiarity with the UX industry and design best practices
Experience writing microcopy or website copy
Experience with open source software and design systems
Published writing across blogs, websites, and other channels
